Course Report

Week starting June 25th

Me and my big mouth!!!!!!

Rain, Rain and more Rain……..

So far in June we have had 179.5mm (7 inches) of rain!!!!!

In between the weather we have been getting on with mainly cutting. The rough, fairways and tee’s are all growing well due to the ‘perfect’ conditions!

We have also just fertilised the greens.

Here at Clandon Golf we are looking to provide a high standard golf course yet try to balance the effect on the environment and local nature. As you enjoy your round of golf you will notice areas outside the course that have been left uncut. These areas are providing a fantastic habitat for flower and fauna.

We have Skylarks nesting, Buzzards frequently patrol over the course, and some rare butterflies have been spotted on equally rare flowers.

By leaving these areas, not spraying weed killer and being careful with other pesticides we are able to provide and control these habitats.

Some might think it looks untidy, it is a step away from the traditional golf course look, but try and take in what nature is showing us and I think you will start to appreciate what we have and are trying to encourage.
