March Newsletter

At Clandon Golf we are passionate about golf and want to help you get the most enjoyment and benefit from this wonderful frustrating game at minimum cost. Spring officially starts in a few weeks – so longer days, hopefully warmer weather and more and more happening at Clandon Golf. Having said that Clandon has been one of the very few courses to remain open and fully playable throughout all the wet weather.

Our very popular Saturday junior clinics are run by the ‘No1 Junior Golf Academy’ 01483 845610 who also visit schools in the area. According to recent data, golf is now more popular in schools than football. We have also extended our junior discounts £7.50 (9), £12.50 (18) to all students who are in full time education if they produce their course ID. To encourage more students into golf we also sponsor a monthly quiz at Surrey University. http://www.surreysportspark.co.uk/thebench/

We actively encourage girls to join our junior development programme and Clandon is a particularly ‘woman friendly’ course as the womens’ tees have been carefully set at a distance where a woman can hit and be competitive with the men’s tee. Free taster sessions for beginners soon – tell your friends. Clandon is particularly ‘lady friendly’ being situated next to the ‘park and ride’ the express bus service into Guildford town centre. If your lady is not keen on a round, let her have your credit card so she can enjoy the shops while you enjoy your golf.

Regular roll up on Friday mornings, group lessons with PGA pro Paul Doherty start from 10am. Another day starting soon

Societies/Corporate Days
Societies keep coming back to Clandon, it’s not just the value for money packages that we offer but we really help them plan their day. We’ve also helped many others organise group days – old school/Uni friends, ex services, office and work do’s. We are also seeing more and more early morning 9 holes before work sessions between work mates.

Onslow Arms www.onslowarmsclandon.co.uk
Just a mile down the road from the course is the lovely village of West Clandon and the renowned “Onslow Arms ” that dates from 1623. The pub oozes charm with a great range of real ales, reasonably priced wines and a restaurant that serves amazing food from a quick bite to a gastro dinner or Sunday lunch. Show your Clandon scorecard and receive a 20% discount – for evening discounts you need to be seated by 7pm.

We have a stunning course, set amongst beautiful scenery with breathtaking views. Unfortunately we’ve had the occasional problem with litter. Normally this has just been the odd water bottle that has more likely dropped out of a bag – if you come across one please pick it up and drop it in the litter bin on the next tee. However at times the litter bins have been cleared out by animals and magpies foraging for food – please report details back to the office.

Golf Provence Country Club www.provencecountryclub.fr
Guy Buckley managing director of Clandon Golf is also a director of Golf Provence Country Club on the outskirts of the village Saumane in southern Provence. Easy to get to (we can arrange packages) – cheap flight to Marseilles, train direct from the airport to L’Isle-sur-Sorgue/Fontaine-de-Vaucluse station which is just 10 minutes from the club.

High Speed Train To Plough Through Golf Course
Don’t worry we are talking about Aylesbury Parlk Golf Club not Clandon Golf. Geoffrey Legouix former pro and operations director at Clandon Golf is also managing director at Aylesbury Park Golf Club where the proposed route of the London to Birmingham high speed train will plough right through the middle of the course.
