What an unexpected pleasure it was to play such a lovely course at Clandon Golf Club last week. The layout is superb, built on Merrow Downs I’d give it 10/10 for design, it is set in rolling undulating terrain. The course is spread out over a huge vast area and It gives the impression of an inland links seaside course, it really is great fun to play. The tees and greens and fairways were in great condition, especially for the time of year (December) and the fairways were firm, exceptionally dry, with tight downland grass making them a joy to play from.

I particularly enjoyed teeing it up and opening my shoulders and driving the ball from elevated tees into the wide forgiving fairways making it so much fun. The course has been very well designed, with great views in every direction, and part of the course runs alongside the 9th hole of Guildford Golf Club. You even get to play between a
disused chalk quarry on hole 15.

A hidden gem in the Surrey countryside, exceptional value too. I would recommend Clandon Golf Club to any golfer.
Personally I think the owners would do well to put some better photos on the website with some aerial shots, the current ones don’t give a good reflection on how good this course is.
