Restrictions

The most welcome return to golf has seen the course subjected to very high demand and although it is anticipated this will ease as we go through the Government’s roadmap out of lockdown, we still have to comply with the Government’s and England Golf measures to ensure the risk of cross-infection is kept to an absolute minimum. However, judging by the way some of our returning golfers have been greeting each other with hugs and handshakes it is clear that the 2-meter social distancing rule is not being observed by everyone but the club must do what it can to ensure the safety of our customers and, equally importantly, the health and safety of our staff.

We have decided to address the twin issues of high demand and Covid-19 by restricting group sizes at peak times.

From the 12th of April:
Only 2-ball max group size can book between the first tee (currently 7am) and 9am.
Between 9am and 12 noon up to 3-ball group size can book.
After 12 noon up to 4-balls can book.

WE HOPE THESE MEASURES CAN HELP ALLEVIATE SOME OF THE ISSUES AND ALSO GIVE EVERYONE A CHANCE TO GET A BOOKING THAT SUITS THEIR PARTICULAR NEEDS. WE WILL, OF COURSE, KEEP THE SITUATION UNDER REVIEW AND THE CLUB IS PREPARED TO MAKE FURTHER CHANGES IF WE THINK IT IS NECESSARY.

Despite the vaccination roll-out program forging ahead the Covid-19 coronavirus has not gone away and Boris Johnson and Chief Medical Officer Professor Chris Whitty have both warned that a third wave of Covid-19 is likely to hit the UK, the question being ‘when’ not ‘if’. Should another wave lead to another lockdown Clandon Golf may not in future be in a position to offer any form of credit or membership renewal extensions for the period of closure.

Kind regards
